2018 Spring Training 
Water Stop Sponsors / Help Needed

Choose a date to help with the water stops and someone from the training committee will contact you the week before your scheduled stop and provide details on when/where/how to setup the stop. All equipment is provided, all we need is for you to pickup the equipment the day before the training run, fill the water coolers, setup the stop the morning of the run, and tear down the stop after the run. YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE TRAINING RUN! Just get everything setup early and then come to the start and run as usual! Following your run, go back and pick up the equipment, drop it off and you're done!

                               


Spring marathon and half marathon training for the OKC Memorial Marathon will start on Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Also, "The Walking" training program will once again be available. If you are a walker or want to begin running and need help getting started.... This is the group to get involved with! It help you achieve your goal of walking/jogging in the 5k, Relay, Half, or Full Marathon.

Registration/Membership – The training group is a free open service to anyone wanting to train for any aspect of the Marathon Training or just wanting to get some physical activity.  We would love to have any interested runners/walkers join the OKC Running Club as well but it is not required.  We will routinely have membership applications available for those who would like to join the club.  Annual memberships are $20.

Courses - Out & Back and Loop so they can be modified to fit your individual training plan. They are on public streets and paved trails.  Trails - run on the right, streets - run on the left against traffic and obey all traffic signs.  Run at your own risk.

Water Stops – We will have water/sports drink stops at the start/finish area and approximately every 3 miles along the routes.

Water Stop Closing – The water stops will be closed based on a 15 minute per mile pace.  If you can’t finish the course by that time and you need water, we recommend that you start earlier so you can finish before the water stops close or carry water with you. 

Treats to Share – It has been a long standing tradition of this training group that members bring food treats to share with the other runners after the run.  You are welcome to participate in this tradition.  Typically, people bring a homemade loaf of bread, brownies, bagels, fruit, pretzels, or something similar.  If just a few people do this each week there is generally plenty to go around.  So, pick a week and treat your fellow runners!

    Packet Pickup
     
    Packet pickup will be Friday, March 2, 2018 2-7pm at Panera Bread (6800 N Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116). Packets may also be picked up at the race site Saturday morning from 7-8:00am

    Aid Stations
    The 15 km & 25 km Run will have aid stations approximately every 2.2 miles with fluids and various fuels.

    Port-a-potties
    There will be ample facilities near the start/finish area and by the aid stations. (4K, 7.5K, 11K)

    A2A Race for Mercy Marathon

                      **Attention**
    Riders need to sign up by Wed. 3/21 so your packets can be pulled and delivered to OKC.  After then you will have to make your own arrangements to get your packet.

    When:    Sunday, March 25, 2018

    What:  Same day, round trip to and from the A2A                 Marathon*/20.6 Mile*/Half Marathon*/5K*

    Cost:    $22.00  pp, no fees, nonrefundable but transferable.

    Marathon, 20.6, Half Marathon & 5K are Series Races*

    We take care of the details -- you take care of the running!

    Bus Amenities: Restroom, reclining seats, reading lights,overhead and under coach storage.

    Passenger Pickup:   Buses will make passenger pickups in both the Oklahoma City area (exact location to be announced), and at the OK Runner in Norman the morning of the run. OKC 5:00 a.m. load bus, leave no later than 5:15, Norman pickup time approximately 5:30 a.m.

    The bus will deliver runners to the starting line for each race.  
     
    Clean-up after the run:  Showers and dressing rooms will be open at the Ardmore Noble Stadium for clean up prior to the return trip.  Bring your own soap & towel.

    Return to OKC area:  Bus will leave the Ardmore area for return to OKC at approximately 12:30pm.    

    Bus Rider race packets will be delivered to those riding the bus.... no need to drive to Ardmore the day
    before!

    26.2, 20.6, and 13.1 runners be sure to bring throw away clothes as you will not have a bus to stay warm in at the starting line since the 5k starts at 8am also. The bus will drop you and head to the next starting line! No 5K runners the bus will stay at the half start line.

    Bus will depart Ardmore at 12:30pm or sooner. Therefore, marathoners and 20.6 milers you should be comfortable running a 4:30 marathon or 20.6! Since the majority of riders will be running the half marathon, we ask any rider running the marathon (26.2) or 20.6 to be finished and ready to leave no later than 12:30pm or make other plans. We will leave earlier if all riders are finished and ready to go.
