Club Meeting - Yoga for Runners

PROGRAM
Join us at Bar-K for a special event exploring the benefits of yoga for runners, followed by an all-level yoga class led by Mark Ballard.
Mark will dive into how yoga can support runners, focusing on key aspects such as:
- Connecting breath to movement, and why this connection is important for runners
- Regulating the nervous system for better performance and recovery
- Enhancing proprioception—awareness of the body’s position in space— to improve balance and running form
- Supporting rest and recovery to reduce the risk of injury
The session will also debunk common misconceptions about yoga, with time for Q&A.
Additionally, Destiny Green, the Executive Director of the Route 66 Marathon & Tulsa Run, will be sharing insights about these races. She’ll also be offering some free entries, so don’t miss your chance to win!
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mark Ballard is a seasoned runner with over 17 years of experience, having completed 35 marathons and 23 half marathons, including twice at the Boston Marathon. With a background in neuroscience and cognitive psychology, he spent 10 years working in neurophysiology research. Recently, he earned his Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) certification, and he currently serves as the vice president of the Landrunners.
**Food and drinks available for purchase - no dogs allowed in the meeting or eating area but you can check them into the dog park for fee.
The meeting is FREE and open to the public. All are encouraged to attend - you do not have to be a member to join us.
