Today I ran the See Spot Run 10k in Guthrie.  I was struggling with the many steep hills and felt like I couldn't run any more.  Just as I was contemplating giving up my 100% effort, I saw laying on the ground near the side of the road some gloves a runner up ahead had thrown off.  The gloves had printed on them the words "Run Jack Run"!  I remembered Jack Rector and the good advice he gave me during marathon training about relaxing my body, changing my form, not entertaining the thoughts of giving up!  I remembered his smiling face and ever friendly personality!  I pressed on toward the goal.  I did it for Jack!

That is amazing!  Did you see them on that uphill in the neighborhood right before the 5K point?  If so, those were my gloves!  ;o)  I was starting to get really warmed up at that point since the sun had come out and that's when I decided to shed the gloves.  I was pressing pretty hard to try to catch a few runners before the finish and was just trying to be as "comfortable" as possible during the hilly portions.  Little did I know that I would be able to inspire another runner to press on like I did.  That's what I love about our sport!!
