The Race Series is off to a booming start for 2012.

In case you don't know, one must register to contend or participate for the Series in 2012.  The club has gotten so big in recent years, it is more manageable to score those who are interested in contending.  So far we have more than 200 registered for the Series.

The New Years Day race was a great blast off, as we had around 59 landrunners contend and volunteer (so far).

The next Series race is the Sooner State games trail run towards the end of this month.  There are 8 Series races for the first quarter.

    Run well.

The Board of Directors and President have elected to have the three timed races of the A2A race count for the Race Series.  The marathon, half-marathon, and 5K distances will all count as one Series race.  Rule 13, last bullet will apply as marathoners get scored highest, then half-marathoners, then 5k'ers in respective age groups....

If a Series Race has multiple distances or durations that count for series purposes, but is to be counted as a single Series race, the contenders who cover the longest distance in each age group will be awarded the highest scores according to the scoring criteria, then the second longest and so forth.

Does this decision also apply to The Memorial Marathon?

Last night, the Board of Directors approved the Series races for the 2nd quarter.  Here is the list that covers the first half of the year.  The A2A, three distances count, but it will only be one Series race, so rule 13, last bullet applies.  The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and the Half Marathon will be scored as two separate races, so you may volunteer, and run either event, and get credit for both.

2-SO* Sooner St 4,8,12M trl run

It looks like the director cancelled the Super Summer 8 race over the past weekend.

The third quarter Series races are in process of being approved and should be announced shortly.

Remember, that to be award eligible, you must volunteer at a Series race at least once over the year.  Remember to report in when you volunteer.

    Best,

    Doug

    Be a Redman Volunteer!!

The Race Committee has approved the Redman Triathlon to be eligible for a volunteer event (no competition points), and the Landrunners will have an aid station.  So great opportunity to pick up you volunteer requirement, and even if you have already or are not contending in the Series this year, the aid station could use your help and great fun it will be with the toga theme.

    Go to....

to sign up or contact the man in charge.

In case you missed it, the Spirit of Survival races, in light of the club sponsored bus trip, has been approved to be a Series race as well.

The Board of Directors has passed the motion to approve the following races for the Race Series for the 4th quarter of 2012.  A couple of notes....The Spirit of Survival half and 5k combined will count as one race for Series purposes.  For 24 The Hard way, the hard top ashalt duration races (1 hr to 24 hr) will count as one race while the unpaved dirt Double Dirty Dozen durations will count as a separate race.  Series rules 13, last bullet applies to the duration races and the Spirit of Survival distances.

Now is that as clear as mud that will be generated from the Double Dirty Dozen if it rains during or before that event?
